Purposeful assessment plays a large role in my classroom and gives me the data needed to drive important decisions for my students. After collected data from formative assessments, I am able to decided whether a subject has been truly grasped. This can change my plans in ways that extend the time period I plan on teaching a subject, the way I teach, or deciding that mys students do no need any further instruction because they obviously understand a concept. This all leads up to the summative assessment, which will then help me understand the strengths and weaknesses of my students, and well as how well my lessons/previous decision affected my students' understanding.
